Fair Play software

Fair Play software is a monitoring tool. It processes games during or after a competition and looks for statistical patterns or other signals that help officials decide where closer review may be useful. FIDE uses this name for the class of tools and authorizes a specific screening tool for its supervised official online events.

Although it can examine play move by move, it does not serve the player as a chess engine that recommends moves. Its users are the control system, arbiters, or fair play team. It can filter cases, guide observation, and complement other evidence.

An unusual result is not automatically a conviction. The regulations distinguish a screening signal, assumed cheating triggered by an approved limit and method, and a decision reached through the applicable process. Platforms may also operate their own systems, with consequences and appeals governed by their policies.
