FIDE Associate Organizer

FIDE Associate Organizer is the first title in the organizer ladder of FIDE, the International Chess Federation. It recognizes experience in planning and operating events: arranging playing conditions, coordinating people and resources, communicating with players and arbiters, and meeting applicable standards.

Current regulations require at least three years of experience holding at least five rated competitions, meaning events whose results count toward numerical estimates of playing strength, with standard or long time control. The national federation submits the candidate's record. The FIDE Events Commission provides training resources and tests intended to verify knowledge of relevant rules and procedures.

If the commission approves the application, the FIDE Council makes the final decision. The candidate receives the title and a two-year license, which must later be renewed under requirements set by the Council.

The title permits the holder to direct certain international competitions receiving FIDE financial support, subject to the stated exclusions, and allows an application for the next level, FIDE International Organizer. Above that is FIDE Premier Organizer.
