Oceania Chess Confederation

The Oceania Chess Confederation, usually shortened to OCC, is a regional body connecting chess in Australia, New Zealand, and many Pacific island nations and territories. Because its members are separated by enormous distances, a shared structure is especially useful for cooperation, competitions, and development.

FIDE, the International Chess Federation, lists the OCC as an affiliated organization. It does not replace a national federation: each country remains responsible for its own players, teams, and domestic events. The confederation works at the regional level, where several federations can address common needs and projects.

The OCC's official site also places it within the Asian Chess Federation structure. Oceania can therefore maintain a distinct regional identity while remaining institutionally connected with Asia in international chess administration.
