The 2011 refoundation
After more than twenty years without sporting activity, the club was refounded in Beniaján in 2011 by Emilio Sánchez Jerez and Sonia Gil. The new phase established an active local base combining in-person teaching with team competition.
Two promotions and four championships
The climb through Spain's national divisions was concentrated in two seasons. Beniaján won the Second Division in 2015 and the First Division in 2016, securing consecutive promotions to the División de Honor.
The club won Spain's top club team division in 2021, then repeated the title in 2023, 2024 and 2025. That sequence places its national success within a sustained period rather than a single exceptional season.
Teaching and intercultural chess
The Ajedrez Master school provides in-person teaching for different ages and levels, both in its own groups and in schools. This creates a route into the club alongside its national competition activity.
The community strand also took shape in the Circuito Intercultural de Ajedrez, organized with Duochess and supported by Fundación Cepaim. In its seventh edition, the program explicitly emphasized friendship among participants, intergenerational learning and links between clubs.
