A city club with a coastal stage
The club's profile places a progressive expansion of activity from 2000 onward, including Scacchi a Scuola and more intensive youth work. Its participant-facing program combines courses and assisted practice with individual and team tournaments for adults and younger players.
The organization remains based in Chieti, but Montesilvano has become its second public stage. Fischer Chieti has collaborated on national school finals there, organized the 2023 edition, and run multiple editions of the international Grand Hotel Adriatico series.
The long women's title sequence
Fischer Chieti won the open Italian Team Championship in 2008 and returned to the top in 2016. That second victory came with the women's championship at the same event, giving the club a national double.
The 2016 women's crown was already the club's seventh in succession. Its 2025 success raised the total to nine, making the women's side a durable thread in Fischer Chieti's competitive history.
School chess on a national scale
In 2017 and 2018 the club organized the Abruzzo regional stages of the Trofeo Scacchi Scuola and collaborated on the national finals in Montesilvano. The 2018 edition set a record of 1,724 players.
After two canceled editions and one online event during the pandemic, the competition returned in person in 2023. Fischer Chieti organized a Montesilvano final for 1,490 players aged 8 to 19, grouped into 290 school teams.
The Grand Hotel Adriatico series
In September 2022 the club organized the 24th Grand Hotel Adriatico Open in Montesilvano, where the top section brought together 40 players from Austria, Estonia, France, and India. By December 2025 the series had reached its 31st edition, again organized by Fischer Chieti in the same coastal city.
