Educational chess at the Anglo

In 2024, the club helped organize a Regional Educational Chess Meeting in Building 54 of the former Frigorífico Anglo. Fray Bentos was one of four venues in a national program for primary, secondary, and non-formal education institutions, serving the country's western region.

The venues trace the club through different parts of local life: Stella d'Italia for the city championship, the former Anglo industrial complex for educational chess, and Las Cañas for regional and national competition. Together, they place the Círculo's work across the city, the Anglo, and the nearby resort.

Las Cañas and the national circuit

Las Cañas lies about eight kilometres from Fray Bentos and has been a recurring setting for the Círculo's public activity. After the 2022 Regional Litoral tournament, the resort hosted the 2025 National Interclubs Championship, co-organized with the Uruguayan Chess Federation and attended by more than 100 players from across the country.

In May 2026, the Círculo and the federation again co-organized the National Youth Festival at Las Cañas. Its open and girls' sections ran from under 8 through under 18, and the category champions earned the sporting right to represent Uruguay at continental events that year.

That combination of scales runs through the Círculo's documented history: a local, intergenerational mission that also creates meeting points for schools, players from western Uruguay, club teams, and the country's main youth categories.
