African Chess Confederation

The African Chess Confederation, known as ACC, is the continental organization for organized chess in Africa. The International Chess Federation, or FIDE, lists it among its affiliated organizations. In this setting, an affiliate represents shared interests of several national federations, a region, or a particular chess activity.

ACC acts as a bridge among national federations across Africa. It coordinates a continent-wide competition circuit, including individual and youth championships, and supports the institutional and sporting development of chess in the region. It does not replace national federations, which continue to administer chess inside their own countries.

Its level is comparable to that of the Asian Chess Federation, the Confederation of Chess for Americas and the European Chess Union. FIDE provides the worldwide framework, while ACC represents and organizes the African continental level.
