International Physically Disabled Chess Association

The International Physically Disabled Chess Association, abbreviated IPCA, is a non-profit international federation affiliated with the International Chess Federation (FIDE). Its scope is players with physical disabilities and the organizations that represent them.

IPCA maintains a membership structure and organizes or supports dedicated competitions, including world and European individual championships. Its purpose is not to create different piece movements, but to provide an institutional and competitive pathway in which each event can apply its stated access conditions and accommodations.

IPCA does not automatically cover every form of disability. The IBCA focuses on blind and visually impaired players, while the International Chess Committee of the Deaf serves deaf chess. Exact eligibility and any permitted assistance must be read in the regulations for the particular competition.
