Explanation

A mobile pawn majority combines two conditions. One side has more pawns than the opponent in an area of the board, and those pawns can advance and exchange so that one survives as a passed pawn. That passer will have no enemy pawn ahead on its own file or either neighboring file that can stop it.

The numerical edge works through contact and exchanges. Three pawns against two, for example, may force the two defenders to capture or retreat until the third pawn becomes free. Move order matters: advancing the wrong pawn can permit a blockade, create isolated pawns, or throw away the numerical edge.

Mobile describes a real capacity, not a command to start a race immediately. The advance may first need support, prevention of counterplay, or help from the king. A has the structural potential to create a passer; it is mobile when it also retains an effective route forward against the opposing .
