Woman International Master

Woman International Master (WIM) is a title awarded by FIDE, the International Chess Federation, within its women's title series. It is below Woman Grandmaster (WGM) and above Woman FIDE Master (WFM). It should not be confused with International Master (IM), which is an open title available to any player and uses higher thresholds.

The normal WIM route requires title norms, meaning tournament performances that satisfy special conditions. Each WIM norm requires a calculated performance of at least 2250 and an adjusted average opponent rating of at least 2030; a rating is a number used to estimate competitive playing strength. At least one third of the opponents, with a minimum of three, must be WIMs, WGMs, IMs, or Grandmasters (GMs). Additional requirements also govern titled opponents and national federations.

For the title through norms, those performances must cover at least 27 games and the player must at some point have reached a rating of 2200. FIDE can also award WIM directly for specified results in its direct-title table, so not every WIM reaches the title through exactly the same route.
