Asian Chess Federation

The Asian Chess Federation is the continental organization connecting organized chess across Asia. The International Chess Federation, or FIDE, lists it as an affiliated organization, and the Olympic Council of Asia identifies it as the Asian federation for the sport.

Its role is continental: it connects national federations and provides a shared framework for regional competition and cooperation. Each national federation retains local administration, while the Asian organization represents the common Asian sphere.

It should not be confused with the Arab Chess Federation. The latter brings countries together through a transnational Arab sphere that crosses Africa and Asia; the Asian Chess Federation is defined by the continent. Its level is comparable to the African Chess Confederation, the Confederation of Chess for Americas and the European Chess Union.
