Confederation of Chess for Americas

The Confederation of Chess for Americas, commonly called CCA or FIDE America, is the continental organization connecting national federations throughout the Americas. The International Chess Federation (FIDE) recognizes it as an affiliated organization. Its scope covers the continent's zones and subzones, meaning regional subdivisions, rather than any single country.

CCA coordinates continental, Pan-American, zonal and subzonal championships, together with work in areas such as arbitration, training, education and development. National federations continue to administer chess in their territories and nominate representatives; the confederation provides the shared framework for continental competition and cooperation.

Its role is comparable to that of the European Chess Union, the Asian Chess Federation and the African Chess Confederation. It is neither an organization limited to the United States nor the worldwide governing body, which remains FIDE.
