A format in which one player plays several separate chess games at the same time against multiple opponents.

This page is temporarily shown in English. Complete localization will be added in a later stage.

Explanation

A simultaneous exhibition, usually shortened to simul, has one player, the exhibitor, facing several opponents in separate games that run at the same time. Each opponent controls a different game; there is no single shared position.

In the classic over-the-board form, the boards are arranged in a row or circuit and the exhibitor walks from board to board, makes one move, and continues to the next. On returning to a board, the exhibitor answers the move made there. An online simul follows the same idea by repeatedly switching the host among active games.

A simul describes how many games are organized around one player, not a standings system such as a or a . Details such as clocks, pace, number of boards, and special rules depend on the event.
