Byes and rest rounds

A round in which a participant has no opponent; the points received depend on the type of bye and the event regulations.

A round that a participant asks not to play and that normally scores either half a point or zero under the event rules.

A pairing-allocated bye is a round in which the pairing system leaves one participant without an opponent because an odd number must be paired.

A full-point bye is an unplayed round in which a participant receives the same score that a win would award.

A requested bye in which the player does not play the round and receives half a point under the event's conditions.

A zero-point bye is an unplayed round in which the participant receives zero points.
